Casa Longhi - Historical residence in the heart of Alba
The building, old but recently renovated, in 1890 was the birthplace of Roberto Longhi, a renowned Italian art historian and critic, whose work was very important to the spread of Caravaggio's art on an international level, also thanks to two exhibitions he cured.
Alba certainly has credit for Longhi's interest in art history, since he was in contact with art every day, thanks to the Roman remains throughout the city centre and to the altarpiece by Barnaba da Modena, a painter from XIV century, that can be found inside the San Giovanni Church.
